NAMI The National Alliance on Mental Illness

NAMI's Purpose: NAMI Mendocino County is a grassroots, self-help, support and advocacy organization consisting of families and friends of people living with mental health issuses, clients, professionals and members of the community.

We support people in our community who:

  • Are living with mental health challenges
  • Have a friend or family member living with mental health issues
  • Feel alone and isolated
  • Need information about mental illness, local services and support

Support Family Support Groups provide emotional support to family and friends of people living with mental health issues.

Educate

Free Family-to-Family Education program focusing on schizophrenia, bi­polar disorder, major depression, panic and obsessive disorders, biology of the brain, research, medications, treatment, communication & problem solving skills.

A Library of books, pamphlets, audiotapes and videos for loan are available upon request.

Speakers on brain disorders for community groups.

Advocacy T o put an end to discrimination and to improve services, including treatment options, housing, education and economic opportunities.
